ECOM Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd. is a company in the commodity industry and sustainable supply chain management. With operations in over 35 countries, focusing mainly on coffee, cotton and cocoa.
The supply chain generates a large amount of data related to the handling of commodities. The business objective was to migrate legacy processes to an automated process that performs complex financial analysis for each by-product in an efficient and secure manner.
The information inputs were siloed and comprised a large volume dataset fragmented across multiple geographic locations with heterogeneous data sources. Our proposed solution facilitated centralizing and unifying the information in an EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse) for the business.
The final solution was able to deliver to the general management the analyzed information in a better time for decision making in a more effective and faster way.
Our team of Google Cloud Certified Data Engineers designed and implemented a pipeline with Cloud Storage as DataLake. The data is normalized, cleansed and ingested with DataPrep to BigQuery as EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse), where the financial analysis of the information is then performed.
The end result is a dashboard with the main KPIs that the business was looking for in DataStudio connected in real time to BigQuery which is updated every time new information is ingested. Google Sheets was also connected to generate working documents directly from BigQuery which helped to eliminate information silos and obtain a single source of truth.
Processing times went from waiting 5 days for calculations to getting them in 1 hour, which led to the possibility of producing these reports several times a month or daily on demand.
