Better medical follow-up to patients with Google Cloud.
Longev.ai is a service that seeks to obtain patient data and make it accessible to doctors looking to better track the patient, taking advantage of different smart devices connected to a smartphone. These devices generate a large amount of datapoints and need to be accessible in real time to be analyzed by doctors and to launch alerts about a patient who has an out-of-the-ordinary behavior.
From a physician’s point of view, it is important to be able to historically consult data such as blood pressure, heart rate, blood glucose, exercise performed by a patient under follow-up in order to make better decisions and to be aware of abnormal peaks that may increase the patient’s risk.
The challenge was to have real-time information accessible and scalability to support a large number of devices sending data to the platform with a solution in which the cost would increase with demand with the least amount of operational cost possible.
This is how our team of Google Cloud Certified Data Engineers designed an architecture with Google Cloud PaaS components, App Engine was used for the interconnection endpoints from the mobile devices which send the datapoints to Pub/Sub which are aggregated and transformed into DataFlow and finally ingested to BigQuery.
This NoOps component-based design reduced the need to maintain the solution or apply security patches to zero, while complying with the highest industry security standards such as HIPPA.
From a scalability point of view, App Engine Standard is ready to scale to meet the necessary requests automatically, and through Google’s Big Data components it was possible to have the information in near-real-time in a secure way.
